Self-respect versus Ego

God accepts us unconditionally, whosoever or whatsoever we are. He does not see our flaws. He only sees us in our original pure form. Infact, he does not look at our physical form, gender, status, caste, creed or nationality.

Ego is good as long as it is about our original nature–peace, purity, empathy etc. But then, it no longer remains ego; it becomes self-respect.

The entire Godly knowledge of Gita inspires us to imbibe the self-respect or conscious embodiment of virtues.

The problem with us is that we develop a false sense of ownership (egoistic attachment) about such things that never belonged to us. Nature provided us to use those things prudently, only to return them back to her after sensible use.

In order to respect others also, we need to be in a state of self-respect. When the self-respect is low, ego is high. When ego is high, we frequently feel insulted and tend to disrespect others.

Meditation is a spiritual practice that increases our inner power and strengthens our self-respect, so that respecting people becomes our natural and spontaneous quality.
